Planetary Desktop

I used alot of Stock art for this (Because I'm bad at picture stuff).

Created with Gimp 2.6 and Apophysis 2.09.

First up is the incredibly useful tutorial by humanofprey. I followed this almost completely to make the planet itself. [link]
The planet also made use of this( [link]) stock image of lava by Ayelie-stock.

The Space itself used a few stock brushes.
Firstly there's these smoke brushes by LJFHutch [link] which were used in the background.
The Nebula brushes ([link]) by FrostBo were particularly useful along with his Nebula Color Pack which was used with Apophysis to make the big swirly bit I'm calling a Nebula. I also used his Star Brushes.

Now that's over with. I like to make my own wallpapers and haven't had a new one in a while, (Was Rocking Iron Man for a few weeks) and as I'm in a particularly Sci-fi mood I couldn't help myself when I came across the planet tutorial up above. This is also why it's in 1440x900 which is my resolution! Big thanks to all of the artists who created the stock and the tutorial (The Real Work) and for allowing me to do this!

This will probably be the only kind of non text submission you'll see out of me. I suppose this is my first manipulation of any kind, hopefully it isn't so bad as to offend the stock makers. I'm quite happy with it myself, if I touch it anymore it'll just get worse.
